Field Service

I would be remiss if I wrote so much and so often to you about doing the hard things if I were not doing them, but as it turns out I do hard things to support my family. Technology and automation have stoked my interest in the trades, and while I don't yet know where the road will lead, I know it'll be a more stable road for the man who works with his hands.

Introducing Fit For The Fight's Field Service Division: where I provide services that get my hands dirty, my family fed, and you left better for our encounter! Work is a blessing from the Lord from before the fall of mankind, so I hold it as an honor and a charge not only to work, but to do it well, and as Colossians 3:23 says: "work heartily as to the Lord." He has given me a body and mind to steward and a family to provide for, as He has for many of you, so here we go!

Dryer Vent Cleaning & Safety

The humble dryer vent is one of the most overlooked and yet potentially catastrophic systems of the home. Most folks remember to clean out the lint trap on their dryer from time to time, but there is a whole piping system under your house that collects what gets through there and holds it on the walls of the pipe.

In Colorado I used to make camping fire starters from dryer lint for its excellent flammability, and regrettably, linty dryer vents are the leading cause of house fires, nearly 16,000 per year according to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)! Not the stove, not electrical problems, or even the fireplace: dryer vents. The heat from the dryer is enough to ignite the lint and set your home ablaze where you can't see it!

Even if your home doesn't see fire from it, a dirty vent can reduce efficiency of the dryer and cause extra wear and tear on the appliance. Think of it like artery plaque for the dryer: enough buildup causes failure.

Fortunately, in my time as a chimney sweep, I learned how to combat this problem quite effectively, and did so for hundreds of homes. I have reintegrated this skill into my lineup and offer it to you. Let me help you keep your home safe!

Pricing for my service is $200 per dryer vent. Flat.

Some companies charge higher rates, others charge based on job complexity, but with me you get no surprises. Ground floor, second-level, roof (if I can get to it; tell me while we're booking!), standalone or stacked system: if I can access both parts of the vent, $200.

My attention to your system includes:

  • Crawlspace inspection to ensure functional system (damage hides where you can't see)

  • Full system understanding (bends, run length, airflow)

  • Endoscopic camera inspection with before and after pics for you to keep

  • Care for your dryer and floor (move with sliders to protect the floor)

  • Use of tools to dislodge lint for removal (many "cleanings" just blast air through the system with little to no effect, and many DIY kits either compact the lint or don't run the length of the system, worsening the problem).

  • HEPA-filtered vacuum to keep the lint out of your home

  • Optional upgrade of hose and clamps behind dryer

and more to make your experience excellent!

Standard service covers most setups—if anything unusual comes up, or there are recommended modifications, I’ll review with you before doing additional work. Again, no surprises come checkout time!

Before cleaning (moderate lint buildup affecting airflow and dryer performance) and after cleaning (clean and firestarter-free!)

Your dryer vent holds a substance that can ruin your home and potentially more. Let's get in touch so I can deliver a great and much-needed safety service for you! Evening and Saturday times available as schedule needs!
